Injury Care for Atlantic Beach, Across the Intracoastal
Atlantic Beach is its own city in Duval County, on the ocean between Neptune Beach and the Mayport area. When Jacksonville and Duval County consolidated in 1968, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Baldwin stayed independent, so it is not a Jacksonville neighborhood.
East Coast Injury Clinic does not have an office at the beaches. Residents come to our Southside clinic at 10550 Deerwood Park Blvd, Suite 609, Jacksonville, FL 32256, west across the Intracoastal Waterway in the Deerwood Park office area near J. Turner Butler Blvd (JTB) and I-295. There are chiropractors closer to home on Atlantic Blvd; people usually make the drive to us when an injury needs a medical exam, rehab and claim documentation under one roof.

Three Ways West to Our Clinic
The city has three main roads to the Southside, and all of them cross the Intracoastal Waterway:
- J. Turner Butler Blvd (JTB, SR-202). Usually the most direct. Head west over the Intracoastal toward I-295 and the Deerwood Park office area.
- Atlantic Blvd. Head west, then turn south on I-295 or Southside Blvd toward JTB.
- Beach Blvd. Head west to I-295 or Southside Blvd, then south to the Deerwood Park area.
Summer beach traffic, bridge slowdowns and weekday rush hour on JTB can all stretch the drive. Our Google Maps listing shows live conditions.
Coastal Living and the Injuries That Come With It
Life at the beach happens outdoors, and so do many of its injuries:
- Surfing, paddleboarding and swimming. Paddling and wave impacts strain shoulders, the neck and the low back, and a wipeout can twist a knee or an ankle. See sports chiropractic.
- Running and cycling. Runners on the sand and cyclists along the coast deal with overuse injuries, and a fall or a collision with a car can cause fractures, concussion or neck pain. Duval County recorded 334 bicyclist crashes in 2024, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV).
- Crashes on the bridge routes. Mayport Rd, Atlantic Blvd, Beach Blvd and JTB funnel beach traffic onto a few bridges, and rear-end collisions are common in that stop-and-go. Our car accident injury clinic page explains the first steps.
- Federal civilian workers. Civilian federal employees hurt on the job, including those working at nearby Naval Station Mayport, file under federal workers’ compensation. See federal OWCP injury care.
After a bike or car crash, go to an emergency room first if you have severe pain, a head injury, trouble breathing or numbness.
Getting Back in the Water: Care at the Southside Clinic
For an active beach lifestyle, the goal of care is usually specific: paddle again, run again, ride again. At the Southside clinic, that work is shared across the team:
- Our physical therapists build shoulder, core and hip strength and plan a gradual return to activity.
- Our chiropractic physicians provide chiropractic adjustments for neck and back restrictions when they are appropriate for you.
- Shockwave therapy may help some long-standing tendon problems, such as those in the shoulder, elbow or heel.
- Our medical providers examine crash injuries, including the Emergency Medical Condition determination Florida PIP uses, and coordinate pain management when needed.
Whether a cyclist hit by a car is covered by PIP depends on the policies involved, so our front desk checks coverage before your first visit. Individual results vary. Other nearby pages: Arlington and Nocatee, or see every area we serve.
Planning the Trip from Atlantic Beach
- Choose your bridge: JTB is usually the most direct; Atlantic Blvd and Beach Blvd are the alternates.
- Book around beach traffic: weekday mornings and summer weekends are the slowest times to cross.
- Bring: photo ID, insurance cards, and the crash report and claim number, or your federal claim information if you were hurt at work.
- Find us: Southside clinic details, contact us or call (904) 513-3954.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Beach residents are seen at our Southside clinic on Deerwood Park Blvd, usually reached by JTB. Our medical providers, chiropractic physicians and physical therapists treat crash injuries and handle the records and PIP paperwork auto claims need.
No. It is its own city in Duval County. It stayed independent when Jacksonville and Duval County consolidated in 1968, along with Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Baldwin.
JTB west across the Intracoastal Waterway is usually the most direct. Atlantic Blvd or Beach Blvd west to I-295 or Southside Blvd also work. The drive is about 20 to 35 minutes depending on traffic.
It may. Coverage for a cyclist hit by a motor vehicle depends on the policies involved, including your own auto policy if you have one. Our front desk verifies coverage before your first visit. Initial care must begin within 14 days for PIP to pay medical benefits.
Most injury care at East Coast Injury Clinic is covered through one of four paths: auto insurance PIP after a car accident, a personal injury attorney’s Letter of Protection, state workers’ compensation for a work injury, or federal workers’ compensation (OWCP or Longshore) if you are a federal or maritime employee. We also see patients under Medicare, Tricare, VA Community Care, and a limited number of private plans. Our front desk verifies coverage before your first visit and explains exactly what is and is not covered for your specific case, so there are no surprises. Call 904-513-3954 or visit eastcoastinjury.com to start.
Yes. Our physical therapists and chiropractic physicians evaluate and treat shoulder, neck, back, knee and ankle injuries from water sports, with a plan for a gradual return to the water.
Federal civilian employees file work injuries under FECA through the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP). Our team works with OWCP claims; call us with your claim information and we will explain the next steps.
